We can learn how sound, color and energy can heal us. Western medicine is just beginning to acknowledge the powerful connection between the body and the mind in disease creation. Yet, Eastern belief systems have supported this idea for centuries. What this means is that we are greatly affected by the flow of energy in our body's system. Energy can be thought of as electricity. Between our brain and body electrical signals are sent which lets all the systems communicate. These communication centers or energy centers are interdependent on each other. Whenever, there is a problem in one area often times other organs or systems are comprised as well. There are several ways to keep ourselves balanced physically as we know eating healthy, getting sufficient sleep and avoiding stress.
On the other hand how do we keep ourselves "balanced"
mentally? Here is where the subtle energies of the environment can influence us positively. Energy exists all around us. Everything moves or vibrates at different rates of energy, which can be measured through various devices. Whether we are aware of it or not we are always exchanging energy. We exchange positive energy with others in the form of a hug or a smile or negatively through angry looks or gestures. All thoughts are forms of energy. Our perception of ourselves and of our world create a positive or negative experience and the memory of the experience will be stored in our subconscious mind. These negative thoughts/memories are often at the root cause of an illness. Many authors support this theory such as: Louise Hay, Dr. Andrew Weil and Dr. Deepak Chopra. One helpful way of reprogramming our negative thought patterns and behaviors is through the use of affirmations. Affirmations are part of the healing process by reprogramming the mind into accepting the changes taking place on a daily basis. Affirmations are most effective in combination with visualization, sincere desire and conviction. In other words pour your heart into it. This is a way of using sound to influence the body/mind connection through the power of the spoken word.
Another
way to shift our energy system is through sound. Music is a universal language and very healing indeed particularly classical music. For learning & relaxation use Baroque music for improved concentration and memory. I use music and Ting Shas (small cymbals) in a session with a client to create a tranquil mood and often to elevate their minds into an alpha state where greater work can be accomplished. Ting shas have been used in Tibet for centuries to induce a meditative state of mind. Crystal bowls with different octave ranges are another excellent means for transmitting these sound frequencies into the body. Rattles and drums were used by shamans in other cultures since they are the instruments that most closely resemble the sound of the beating human heart. The best instrument by far of course is the human voice especially when used for toning. In toning one can use vowel sounds such as A, E, I, O, U and or OM which is the universal sound for consciousness. Doing this for 10 minutes daily improves your state of mind (greater clarity; concentration). This exercise will also help improve your breathing capacity. I have used toning with clients during a session to enhance an emotional release or to remove blocked energy in their bodies.
Ever
wonder why you are drawn to a certain color? Your body/mind wisdom helps you
choose the color you are needing at that time. In all the choices we make
regarding the colors in everything from food, clothes, cars and homes. Color
helps to bring your life back into balance by giving you the particular
vibrational frequency needed.
The
colors in the energy centers of our bodies represent vibrational energy at
different levels. Every color is a variation of the primary colors: red, yellow and blue. White being the color that holds all other colors within it. That is why often people are told to visualize white light since it contains all of the color frequencies in it. Visualization or "feeling" a color is necessary to bring the energy center that is out of balance into harmony by visualizing the opposite or complementary color i.e.: red/blue, yellow/green etc. in the appropriate area. I perceive a person's energy by the colors I see. I also utilize this form of therapy to correct the client's energy system.
